You could also try creating a new local user profile, as the upgrade might have corrupted your current one. Another quick option is to use the built-in privacy dashboard to reset all permissions at once. Hope that helps.

+1 Yeah, and also make sure your USB port is USB 3.0 or better—sometimes a slower port can cause weird timeouts.
