I’m trying to upgrade my Windows 10 to 11 on my dual-boot system (with Ubuntu), but the Windows 11 installer keeps failing. It gives me error code 0x80070002, or sometimes just says my PC doesn’t meet the requirements, even though it definitely does when I check from Windows 10. Has anyone else faced this with a dual boot setup? Could the other OS on the drive be causing the issue?
It's possible the dual-boot setup is interfering, especially if the Windows bootloader or partitions are being misread by the installer. First, try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter and temporarily disabling any third-party antivirus. If that doesn't help, consider using the Media Creation Tool for a fresh install, but back up your data first.
Agreed. I had the same problem. For me, temporarily disabling Secure Boot in my BIOS to match my Ubuntu setup let the Windows 11 upgrade finally go through.
+1 This happened to me too. I had to go into my BIOS and make sure my drive was set to boot as UEFI, not legacy, before it would work. Let me know if that works.
Yeah, that's a solid point. Also, try running the Windows Update troubleshooter first—it can sometimes clear up that error code before you attempt the upgrade again. Good luck!
+1 Agreed, and one more thing—double-check that your Ubuntu partition isn't interfering by temporarily disabling fast startup in Windows 10 before you run the upgrade. Good luck!
You could also try running the Windows 11 Installation Assistant directly from within Windows 10, as it sometimes handles upgrades better than the Media Creation Tool.
