Has anyone else had activation issues after upgrading to Windows 11? My Windows ?

Post by XKvmkLXeAFkV »

Has anyone else had activation issues after upgrading to Windows 11? My Windows 10 was properly activated, but now I’m getting a watermark saying “Windows is not activated” and error code 0x803F7001 in Settings. The activation troubleshooter just says it can’t activate on this device. I upgraded through the official Windows Update, so I’m not sure what went wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, that error code usually means the digital license didn't transfer properly. Try using the Activation troubleshooter again, but this time select "I changed hardware on this device recently" to force it to re-link your license.

You could also try running the Windows Activation troubleshooter directly from the command prompt by typing `slui.exe 4` to see if that helps.

I had the same problem after upgrading. For me, it finally worked after I logged into my Microsoft account in Settings and ran the activation troubleshooter again.

Agreed. Also, if you're on a laptop, make sure it's plugged in and not on battery saver mode, as that can sometimes block activation.

Yeah, that usually does it. One extra tip: if it still hangs up, try pausing your antivirus for a minute before running the troubleshooter again.

Yeah, I had the same problem. I had to completely sign out of my Microsoft account in the activation settings and then sign back in to get it to stick.

This happened to me too. What finally worked was linking my digital license directly to my hardware using the command prompt.

Thanks, that got rid of the watermark! But now my desktop background is just black and I can't change it—is that normal?

Exactly what I needed, thank you!
