+1 Yeah, that's a solid suggestion. Also, make sure your drivers, especially chipset and storage, are fully updated from your manufacturer's site first. Let me know if that works.

Agreed, those driver updates are key. Also, try temporarily disconnecting any non-essential USB devices before starting the upgrade—sometimes that weird error pops up if there's a peripheral conflict.
