I’m stuck trying to upgrade my Windows 10 PC to Windows 11?
I’m stuck trying to upgrade my Windows 10 PC to Windows 11. The PC Health Check app says my system doesn’t meet the requirements because “Secure Boot” isn’t enabled. I went into my BIOS (UEFI) but the option is greyed out and I can’t turn it on. My motherboard is an ASUS Z170-A. Has anyone else solved this? Do I need to reset my BIOS settings or change something with my disk partitions first? Any help would be appreciated.
First, you'll likely need to reset your BIOS to factory defaults, which often unlocks the Secure Boot option. Before you do that, check if your disk is using GPT partitioning and not MBR, as Secure Boot requires GPT. You can verify this by opening Disk Management and looking at your system drive. If it's MBR, you'll need to convert it, which is a bit more involved. For your ASUS board, also make sure you're running the latest BIOS version from their website, as older versions might have bugs with that setting. Hope that helps.
