You could also try using the Media Creation Tool to do a clean install instead, which sometimes bypasses upgrade errors.

Same here. You could also try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter first, as that specific error is often related to a driver conflict. Good luck!

+1 Yeah, that troubleshooter is a good call, but to ease your mind about the backup, File History is solid for personal files, but it won't grab everything like some app data—did you also create a system restore point before starting?

+1 Agreed. To be extra safe, you could also manually copy folders like 'Saved Games' or 'AppData' from your user directory. Let me know if that works.
