Yeah, I had the same problem with my 7700K. I ended up doing a clean install with a bootable USB, and it worked fine.

Same here. Yeah, it's frustrating they don't give a clearer reason, but that CPU is just past the cutoff.

That's a known workaround, but just a heads up, you might miss out on future security updates since that CPU is officially unsupported.

This. You could also try a clean install from a USB drive instead of using the upgrade assistant.

Yeah, that clean install trick often works. Just make sure you back up everything first.
