This happened to me too. I ended up having to remove the old PIN entirely and create a new one before it would stick.

Agreed. This happened to me after a recent update. I had to use my password to log in and then set up the PIN again from settings.

This. Yeah, that's exactly what worked for me too—just a quick re-setup and it was fine.
