Has anyone else had activation issues after upgrading to Windows 11? My Windows ?

Post by 066eeru »

Has anyone else had activation issues after upgrading to Windows 11? My Windows 10 was fully licensed, but now I'm getting a "Windows is not activated" watermark and error 0xC004F213 in Settings. The activation troubleshooter just says it can't activate on this device. I did the upgrade through the official Windows Update, so I'm confused why my digital license didn't carry over. Any help would be appreciated.

Same here. Yeah, that's a solid start. A quick reboot after running the troubleshooter often helps it finally connect and sort itself out.

From what I've seen, That's a common glitch after an upgrade. First, try running the Activation troubleshooter again, but this time choose the "I changed hardware on this device recently" option. If that fails, you might need to use the Activation support phone number from Microsoft—they can often push the license through on their end. Let me know if that works.

Yeah, I had the same problem. For me, it finally activated after I linked my Microsoft account to the license in Settings.

You could also try running the activation troubleshooter again, but choose the "I changed hardware on this device" option. Another option is to use the Activation phone line; it's automated and often fixes these upgrade glitches. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that phone line trick works surprisingly well. Also, double-check that you're signed into the Microsoft account linked to your old Windows 10 license.

+1 Agreed, signing in is key. One more thing: if you're still stuck, try running the Activation troubleshooter again after a fresh reboot—sometimes it just needs that second look.

Yeah, that's solid advice. Also, double-check that your Microsoft account in Settings actually shows your old Windows 10 device as linked—that trips people up sometimes.

This. Agreed, and if it's still stuck, a quick call to Microsoft support usually gets it sorted fast—they can push the activation through on their end.

+1 You could also try manually re-entering your Windows 10 product key in the activation settings. Another option is using the Activation Troubleshooter and selecting the "I changed hardware on this device recently" option.
