Quick tip: Oh yeah, that's a super common headache after a big upgrade. A lot of us have had to double-check those settings. If that error code keeps popping up, let me know and we can try a few fixes together.
Has anyone else had privacy settings completely reset after upgrading to Windows?

Has anyone else had privacy settings completely reset after upgrading to Windows 11? My microphone and camera access for apps got re-enabled, and my advertising ID was turned back on. I also got a weird error (0x80070005) when trying to re-adjust some settings. Is this a known issue, or do I just need to manually go through every single setting again after an upgrade?

Yeah, I had the same problem after the last update. It reset my location permissions and the error code popped up when I tried to fix it.

+1 Yeah, that error code often points to a permission hiccup—have you tried running the troubleshooter as an administrator?

You could also run the built-in privacy troubleshooter. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Yeah, that troubleshooter can help. Also, double-check those settings again after a restart, as sometimes they don't stick until you reboot.

Yeah, That error code can be a pain. Have you tried checking if your antivirus is temporarily blocking the changes? Hope that helps.

Yeah, You could also run the Windows Update troubleshooter, since that error code is often tied to permission issues during an update.

Yeah, Also, double-check if your user account has full administrator rights, as that error can sometimes pop up if it doesn't.

Yeah, that's spot on. One more quick tip: double-check those settings again after the next cumulative update, as they can sometimes revert. Let me know if that works.
