Has anyone else hit a wall trying to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11? My PC meets all the requirements, but the upgrade fails every time. It gets to about 75% and then rolls back with the error code 0xC1900101 - 0x20017. I’ve run the update troubleshooter and made sure my drivers are updated, but no luck. Any ideas on what to try next?

That error usually points to a driver or software conflict during the install. Since you've checked drivers, try temporarily disconnecting any non-essential peripherals like printers or external drives before starting the upgrade. Also, run a clean boot to stop background apps from interfering. If that still fails, creating a Windows 11 installation USB and using the "upgrade this PC" option from there often works better.

Agreed. Also, have you checked if you have any third-party antivirus software running, as that can sometimes block the upgrade?

Yeah, I had the same problem. For me, it was a conflict with an old VPN client I had forgotten was even installed. Hope that helps.

Agreed. Yeah, and if you do have one, try disabling it just before the upgrade. That's often the culprit.

Can confirm. You could also try temporarily disabling your antivirus and disconnecting any non-essential USB devices before starting the upgrade.

Same here. I had the same problem. For me, it was a conflict with an old peripheral driver that didn't show up as outdated. Hope that helps.
