Having a lot of trouble upgrading my Windows 10 PC to Windows 11. The process gets partway through and then fails every time. I keep getting the error code **0xC1900101 - 0x30018**. My system definitely meets the requirements, so I'm not sure what's blocking it. Has anyone else hit this specific error and found a reliable fix? I've already tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter without any luck.

I ran into this a while back. Ah, that error can be really frustrating, especially when you know your PC meets the specs! A really common fix for that specific code is to temporarily unplug any non-essential USB devices (like printers, external drives, or hubs) before starting the upgrade—they can sometimes interfere. If that doesn't do it, let me know and I can suggest a couple more steps to try.

This. I had the same problem. For me, it was a USB hub causing the hang-up. Unplugging everything except my mouse and keyboard finally let the install finish.

This solution worked on my system too. Thanks!

Yeah, You could also try running the Windows Update troubleshooter, as it can sometimes automatically fix underlying issues causing that error.

+1 Another option is to temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software during the upgrade, as it can sometimes interfere.

Agreed. Also, have you tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter from the Settings app?

Agreed. Yeah, that's a good start. Sometimes a clean boot before trying the upgrade again can stop background apps from interfering. Good luck!
