Ever since I upgraded from Windows 10 to 11, my laptop has been running so slow. It takes forever to boot up, and simple programs like Word or Chrome are really laggy. I’ve also noticed my fans are running loudly almost constantly. I ran the Windows Update troubleshooter and got error code 0x80070002, but it didn’t fix the slowness. Has anyone else had this happen? Any tips on what to check first?

Not 100% sure, but I had this issue after my own upgrade. First thing I'd check is your drivers, especially for things like your chipset and graphics, as outdated ones can cause exactly what you're describing. Also, take a look in Task Manager while it's feeling slow to see if something is hogging your CPU or memory.

This. I had the same problem. For me, a clean install of Windows 11 instead of the upgrade made a huge difference in speed and fixed that error.

Same here. Yeah, a clean install often clears up leftover upgrade clutter. Also, double-check that all your drivers, especially chipset and graphics, are updated for Windows 11.

You could also try adjusting your power plan to high performance, since Windows 11 sometimes defaults to a more aggressive power-saving mode.

This happened to me. I fixed the constant fan noise and some lag by going into Settings and turning off a lot of the new visual effects and transparency.

Yeah, that worked for me too. Also, try checking for driver updates in Device Manager, especially for your graphics card.

Agreed. You could also try disabling some of the new visual effects in Windows 11, as those can sometimes slow down older hardware.

Thanks! I checked and updated my drivers, but now my laptop won't connect to Wi-Fi at all. What should I do next?
