I’m trying to upgrade my Windows 10 PC to Windows 11, but the setup keeps failing with error code 0xC1900101. My main worry is my files. I created a system image backup to an external drive before starting, but is that actually enough? Should I also manually copy my documents and photos separately? I don’t want to lose anything if the upgrade goes wrong again.

Not 100% sure, but That error code often points to a driver or software conflict. Your system image backup is a great start—it can fully restore your PC if needed. To be extra safe, I'd also manually copy your most important documents and photos to that external drive separately, just in case. Then, try running the Windows 11 Installation Assistant after temporarily disabling any third-party antivirus.

Glad I'm not alone. Same issue on my PC.

Can confirm. Yeah, that backup should cover you. A quick tip: also run the Windows Update troubleshooter first—it often clears up that specific error. Let me know if that works.

Agreed, that's solid advice. Also, double-check you have enough free space on your main drive—like 64GB minimum—since that can trip up the install too.
