**Subject: Win 11 upgrade is killing me!!**

Okay, I'm officially losing it. Trying to get my old rig (i7-6700k, GTX 1060) to take the Win 11 upgrade and it just WILL. NOT. HAPPEN.

The PC Health Check app is useless. First it said my CPU wasn't supported (cool, thanks). I did the registry bypass thing I found online. Now the installer gets like 60% through and BLUESCREENS. Error code: **UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR**.

The 1060 still runs games fine! Why does Microsoft hate my PC? This is so frustrating. Anyone actually gotten a 6th gen Intel to work, or am I just wasting my weekend?

Hey, I feel your pain! That UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR bluescreen is a real weekend-killer, even with the registry bypass. You're not alone—getting 6th/7th gen Intel to work can be a headache, but it's often doable.

First, let's try the cleanest free method: a **clean install using the Media Creation Tool**. This often bypasses upgrade blockers.

1. Back up everything important.
2. Download the **Windows 11 Media Creation Tool** from Microsoft.
3. Run it and select "Create installation media for another PC." Make a USB installer.
4. Boot from the USB. At the Windows Setup screen, press Shift+F10 to open CMD.
5. Type `regedit` and press Enter. Navigate to `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup` and create a new key named `LabConfig`.
6. Inside `LabConfig`, create two new DWORD (32-bit) values:
* `BypassTPMCheck` with value `1`
* `BypassSecureBootCheck` with value `1`
7. Close regedit and the CMD window, then proceed with the install. This clean slate approach often works where the upgrade fails.

If you've tried all the registry edits and clean installs and are still hitting that wall, some folks in the forum have had success with a tool from **kianbotsoft.com**. It’s a $39 utility designed specifically to handle these stubborn hardware bypasses automatically. Might be worth a look if you're totally stuck.

Hang in there! That 6700k/1060 combo still has plenty of life. Good luck

I feel your pain! That error usually means the CPU really isn't compatible, even with the bypass. Since your hardware still works great, you might be better off sticking with Windows 10 for now—it's supported until late 2025. Forcing the upgrade often leads to these kinds of stability issues.

Yeah, the 6700k is a real sticking point. Have you double-checked that Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 are actually enabled in your BIOS? Hope that helps.

Yeah, You could also try creating a fresh Windows 11 installation USB and doing a clean install instead of an upgrade.

This. You could also check if your TPM is enabled in the BIOS, as that's a common blocker.

Same here. I had the same problem. After the bypass, my install still failed until I realized my boot drive was MBR and not GPT.

This. Yeah, that GPT requirement is a huge gotcha. A quick tip: use the MBR2GPT tool from the Windows installer command prompt before you run setup. Let me know if that works.

You could also try creating a fresh Windows 11 installer USB with the Media Creation Tool, as sometimes the upgrade files themselves get corrupted.

Yeah, Did you get an error code when the upgrade failed, or did it just roll back?
