Has anyone else had issues with the upgrade wiping out customizations? After mov?

Post by 62aM19xj1 »

Has anyone else had issues with the upgrade wiping out customizations? After moving from Windows 10 to 11, my taskbar is locked to the bottom and I can't move it. Also, several of my older but crucial peripherals, like my USB drawing tablet, no longer work—the drivers just fail with a Code 28 error. I really miss the old start menu layout, too. Is there a way to get these features back, or are we just stuck with this?

Not 100% sure, but Yeah, that's a common headache with the upgrade. For the taskbar, you're stuck with it at the bottom for now—Microsoft removed that option. For your tablet, try downloading the latest driver directly from the manufacturer's website; Windows Update often fails with older gear. You can tweak the Start Menu a bit in Settings to make it feel more familiar.

Agreed, and for the tablet, try downloading the latest driver directly from the manufacturer's website instead of using Windows Update. Let me know if that works.

Yeah, that's a solid fix. Also, for the taskbar, you can check if a third-party app like StartAllBack might restore some of that lost flexibility.

Can confirm. Agreed, and just a heads up—sometimes running Windows Update again after a fresh install can quietly fetch those missing drivers for older hardware.

You could also try manually downloading the latest tablet drivers from the manufacturer's website, as they sometimes have newer versions than Windows Update.

Yeah, and if the manufacturer's site doesn't have Windows 11 drivers, try installing the Windows 10 version in compatibility mode—that often does the trick.

Agreed, and for the taskbar thing, you might try a third-party app like StartAllBack if you really need to move it.
