Has anyone else had major slowdowns after upgrading to Windows 11? My laptop, wh?

Post by 08zfbcyslpbh »

Has anyone else had major slowdowns after upgrading to Windows 11? My laptop, which was fine on Windows 10, is now constantly freezing and apps take forever to open. The fans also spin up loudly doing simple tasks. I’ve seen a couple of “Kernel-Power” errors in Event Viewer. I’ve already run all the Windows updates. Any ideas on what to check first?

Not 100% sure, but Oh, that sounds super frustrating, especially coming from a smooth Windows 10 experience. A great first step is to check your drivers, especially for your graphics and chipset, as outdated ones are a common culprit after a big upgrade. If you want, I can walk you through how to check those or we can look at some other common fixes. Good luck!

You could also try disabling some of the new visual effects in Windows 11, as they can be heavy on older hardware.

Same here. utdated drivers after a major upgrade are a super common culprit for that kind of slowdown and those errors.

Yeah, have you checked if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model? Let me know if that works.

+1 I had the same problem. A clean install of Windows 11, instead of the upgrade, made a huge difference for me.

You could also check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update from your laptop manufacturer, as that often fixes compatibility issues after an upgrade.

Agreed. Yeah, that's a solid suggestion. Also, make sure your chipset drivers from the manufacturer's website are up to date, not just the ones Windows Update gives you.

This. And if you're comfortable, you could try a clean install instead of the upgrade.
