**Subject: Windows 11 upgrade is a NIGHTMARE**

Okay, I'm officially losing my mind. Trying to upgrade my old rig (i7-6700k, GTX 1060) and this installer is just brutal. It gets all the way through, then BAM: "This PC can't run Windows 11."

The stupid PC Health Check app says I'm good! My TPM is enabled (2.0!), secure boot is on... what else does it WANT from me? I've been at this for 3 hours. My hardware isn't *that* ancient. Is the 1060 the problem? Ugh.

Anyone else hit this wall? Ready to throw this whole tower out the window.

Hey there, I feel your pain—that "so close yet so far" error is incredibly frustrating, especially after passing the Health Check. Your hardware (CPU, GPU) isn't the direct issue; the 6700K is the real sticking point as it's officially not on Microsoft's supported CPU list, even with TPM 2.0.

Don't toss the tower yet! Let's try a couple **free** steps first:

1. **Double-check Secure Boot:** Sometimes it's "on" but not fully configured. Enter your BIOS/UEFI (spam F2/Del at boot). Find Secure Boot and ensure it's set to "Enabled" **and** that the boot mode is **UEFI**, not Legacy/CSM. Disable CSM if it's an option.

2. **Clean Install via Media Creation Tool:** The *upgrade* path can be buggy. Download the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool, create a USB installer, and run setup.exe **from within your current Windows 10**. This "in-place" install often bypasses upgrade blockers.

If you've done all that and are still hitting the wall, some folks in the forum have had success with a $39 bypass tool from **kianbotsoft.com** that handles the checks automatically. But try the free fixes first—your rig should run Win 11 just fine. Hang in there!

I feel your pain! That error can be super frustrating, especially when the PC Health Check says you're good. The GTX 1060 isn't the issue—it's more likely a BIOS setting. Double-check that your TPM is not just enabled, but also set to "Discrete TPM" or "Firmware TPM" in the BIOS, and that CSM/Legacy Boot is completely disabled. Hang in there—you're close!

Did you also make sure Secure Boot is enabled in the BIOS?

Same here. Agreed, and also double-check that your BIOS is fully updated—some older versions can block the upgrade even if the hardware technically supports it.

Yeah, and after the BIOS update, did you also try turning off any third-party antivirus software before running the installer again?

You could also try creating a fresh Windows 11 installation USB using the Media Creation Tool and doing a clean install instead. Good luck!

Agreed. Yeah, that's solid advice. Just make sure you grab your product key first if you go the clean install route.

This. I had the same problem. The Health Check app gave me the green light, but the actual upgrade failed twice before it finally went through.

Same here. I had the same problem. I had to go into my BIOS and manually enable both TPM and Secure Boot, even though the checker said I was ready. Hope that helps.
